The Parent Learning Series

For parents and caregivers, the Parent Learning Series gives you the tools and confidence to support your child’s growth - in Jewish Day School and beyond.

Empowering parents. Supporting students.

Want to help your child build confidence and navigate social challenges? Worried that your child isn't reaching their potential at school?

Parenting in the 21st century has become increasingly complex. Jewish families have the added challenges of children in dual-curriculum schools, navigating the beauty and complexity of religious traditions, and fostering Jewish identity when aspects of learning can be difficult.

Here’s a transformative course designed to help you better understand, support, and communicate with your children. The result? Compassionate communication between parent and child, meaningful parent-school partnerships, and most importantly, confident and happy children.

What You'll Learn

  • Understanding how your child learns, including topics such as language, attention, executive function, social cognition
  • Understanding areas of learning strengths and struggles in home vs school life
  • Communication strategies that strengthen connection
  • Partnering effectively with teachers
  • Practical applications such as: supporting your child with homework struggles, managing and navigating technology use and social media in a healthy way, managing difficult behavior, helping children who struggle socially, and understanding the demands of reading and writing

Format of the Parent Learning Series

  • 2 in-person interactive sessions from 9:00-4:00 on July 20th and July 22nd at the Safra Center - 130 East 82nd Street, NY, NY

  • 2 parent support sessions where parents reflect on parenting challenges, and discuss practical applications of newly acquired tools

How Hidden Sparks helped me help my child

"Before I started using Hidden Sparks’ parent services, I felt that I was alone trying to figure out the best way to navigate my children’s challenges and ways to help them. Having a person like Ethel, Director of the Parent Education Center, helped me to feel that I am not alone and gave me strength and mental clarity to be able to support my kids academically and emotionally."

Our Facilitators

"I can’t wait to teach parents about how to understand their children’s, and their own, temperaments and how to collaboratively communicate with their children"
